RELATIONAL STONE
OF WHOLISTIC MINISTRY
The Wholistic Center offers hope, healing, and belonging to the whole person. We are walking alongside all people facing unprecedented systemic stress. We are acting now because we cannot wait for a change in the political or social climate to provide care for those in harm's way.
The Wholistic Center is a hub of belonging that remains steady even when the outside world feels unstable.
The Church at Stone River and The Wholistic Center partners with Southeastern Diversity Project as it creates programs that feed students, connect people to mental health and community resources, support LGBTQIA+ youth and families, and create spaces and exciting events where everyone feels seen, safe, and welcome. Through outreach, education, advocacy, and community events, we work to build a more compassionate and connected Southeast.
SOUTHEASTERN DIVERSITY PROJECT
SDP is a "Bridge to Belonging." Pride is an important part of the work, but SDP is much bigger than Pride
• The Front Porch Project - An intentional belonging initiative creating small, approachable spaces for people to meet, listen, learn about one another and build relationships across differences. Connection before programming.
• Backyard Gatherings Informal gatherings where people spend time together and relationships determine what happens next. The idea is simple: we BelonG together.
•River City Pride Annual Pride celebration and SP's largest public event, including parade, festival, 5K and related community events.
• LGBTQ+ Youth, Adults & Families Support, connection, advocacy and assistance.
• Mental Health/Counseling Assistance Helping people access affirming care when financial bairiers would otherwise prevent it.
• Food Insecurity Including backpack-food efforts that have served more than 1,000 students.
• Immigrant/Hispanic Community Advocacy & Education Education, advocacy and community support.
• Racial Justice Ongoing advocacy and community education.
• Criminal Justice/Prison Reform Advocacy Advocacy around justice, incarceration and reform
• Voter Registration & Civic Engagement Helping people participate in civic life.

Open Table discussions hosted by the Beloved Community meet monthly to have conversations where education, faith, justice, and belonging intersect.
The Church at Stone River celebrates God’s gift of diversity. We value the wholeness made possible in the community, which is equally shared and shepherded by all. We welcome and affirm people of every gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation. We welcome and affirm every age, race, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, every level of education, family structure, every economic status, every immigrant, every marital and social status, and so much more. We acknowledge that we live in a world of profound social, economic, and political inequities. As followers of Jesus, we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed.
The Church at Stone River is excited to be a part of the Reconciling Ministries Network which is committed to intersectional justice across and beyond the United Methodist connection, working for the full participation of all LGBTQ+ people throughout the life and leadership of the Church.
In Fall 2026, the Wholistic Center at The Church at Stone River will welcome Everyday Sunshine U (ESU), an educational and life-enrichment program serving adults (18+) with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). ESU is an independent nonprofit providing continuing education, life-skills instruction, social development, recreation, creative arts, and community engagement. This initiative expands the Wholistic Center's mission of caring for the whole person while offering a much-needed community resource.
